ABOUT AWARD REALTY
AWARD REALTY
Floyd and Genelle Hardin have always been dedicated in their work, their family, and in their faith and this is really the heart and soul of Award Realty. Hailing from Ashland, Alabama, Floyd and Genelle moved to Gary, Indiana in the 1950’s. Floyd, who suffered with poor eyesight, managed to persevere and find work as a cement finisher taking him all over northern Indiana and Illinois while Genelle served as the head of a daycare at their local church. These were not easy times for the couple, but through faith, love, and hard work, they found a place for themselves and managed to raise five children.
Floyd’s deteriorating eyesight forced him to retire early. These were lean years when the family of seven shared a two bedroom house. Undaunted by circumstances, they had always lived their lives in such a way as to leave an indelible impression upon their children of the incredible value of a strong work ethic based in a lived and practical faith and the unconditional love of family, and so they did not give up.
Existing family connections and an emphasis on faith led three of their children to attend Lee College (now, Lee University) in Cleveland. Experiencing the community of Cleveland, and desiring to be close to their three college students, and the struggling school system where their two youngest still attended in Gary, the family to Cleveland in 1978 and were immediately immersed in the community at North Cleveland Church of God, and this was to be a blessing on them and their family.
A giving heart and outgoing disposition led one of their friends to convince Floyd and Genelle that they should look at selling real estate. There was a burgeoning real estate market here in Cleveland, and Floyd’s eyesight would not preclude him from working, so they decided to do just that. In 1984 Floyd and Genelle began working with Century 21 Award Realty and found that this job allowed them to minister and help people buy homes as well as give themselves a sense of satisfaction and pride in their work.
Four years later, Floyd and Genelle bought the franchise for Award Realty, separating from Century 21 and struck out on their own. It wasn’t long after that they were able to purchase their office building, where Award Realty is to this day. Infusing their ministerial spirit and desire to help everyone achieve the dream of home ownership, Floyd and Genelle Hardin have shaped the way Award Realty has conducted business over the last twenty-nine years.
Being good stewards themselves, Floyd and Genelle always stressed to their clients the importance of living within their means and not buying more house then they could afford. Being supporters of Lee University, Award Realty has also set up a scholarship for the Lee Lady Flames Basketball team.
If you are looking to buy a home in Cleveland, Tennessee, it just makes good sense to go with a Realtor that knows, lives, and loves Cleveland.
